Despite its extensive experience in home oncology services, it is somewhat surprising that Healthcare at Home is not more active with PharmaServices in the oncology field – perhaps a reflection of the complexity of the oncology market and the rapidly changing NHS landscape.

However, Healthcare at Home now has two dedicated homecare services supporting oncology products.

The first was commissioned by Roche Products to provide nursing support to patients prescribed capecitabine (Xeloda®). Healthcare at Home nurses provide a carefully constructed side effect management and education role for patients at home, providing essential clinical feedback to the oncology centre, thus enhancing patient care.

Second, Healthcare at Home provides home delivery, nurse support and administration at home of topotecan (Hycamtin®) on behalf of Merck. Recently launched, this new service is growing rapidly.
