Commencing in February 1999, Healthcare at Home has been providing a comprehensive 'MS Care at Home' service on behalf of Biogen. This service consists of a regular 4-weekly cold-chain delivery of beta interferon to the patient at home, nurse training and administration of the drug in the home setting, and a continuing nursing support service which provides patients with on-going education, compliance monitoring and advice and assistance with life-long therapy.
Recent patient surveys have revealed a very high level of satisfaction with the Healthcare at Home service.
Together with the major pharmaceutical companies, Healthcare at Home is now extending its MS services to respond to the increasing demands being placed on the NHS. These new initiatives are designed to further improve patient care and to help hard-pressed clinical units optimise their resources through the use of Healthcare at Home's experienced team of nurses. Healthcare at Home is being increasingly asked to provide nursing and delivery services to all MS patients, so we have decided to expand our current expertise in providing more comprehensive services, including Neurology Clinic nurse support to initiate treatment and follow-up for patients on disease modifying therapies. All therapies (Avonex, Rebif, Betaferon and Copaxone, IV steroids etc) are now fully supported.
