The Medical Research Network works in partnership with leading pharmaceutical companies, health organisations and investigators, conducting high quality clinical trials within both the hospital and community environment including the patient home. Running clinical trials in the special environment created by Medical Research Network is beneficial for the sponsor, the health organisations and the patient.
Complex therapies, for which the patient would normally have to go to a clinic, can instead be administered in their own home at a convenient time, in comfortable and familiar surroundings. This not only increases the chance of recruiting the patient but also significantly improves retention within the trial. Anxiety and stress are reduced and the time and logistics associated with visiting the hospital are removed. Imagine yourself as a patient where all you have to do to prepare for your trial visit is put the kettle on! The Health Institution benefits from reduced utilisation of their limited resources whilst maintaining control for the physician by easy and rapid communication between them and the Medical Research Network nurse. They also provide a service that is caring and thoughtful, enhancing their relationship with the patient.
The Sponsor benefits from the enhanced recruitment speeds and high levels of patient retention, as well as setting the scene for use of home-based care for future marketing of the product. Nurses are trained specifically for each study by our clinical trials manager, which ensures consistency and quality. All training is auditable. Nurses trained in a study will always be allocated to trial work as a priority, but are also utilised for the rest of Medical Research Network’s home visits, thus reducing the cost to the sponsor. Back up nurses are also trained in each region to provide cover for sickness, holidays, etc. and provide an immediate ability to scale up services if a centre recruits rapidly.
The Medical Research Network also provide nurses experienced in clinical trials for research units in Health Institutions, on a full or part time basis, able to work on any clinical trial within the unit. These nurses can add to the capacity of a unit to undertake research without incurring any drag on HR or increasing headcount. They are permanent, full-time employees of the Medical Research Network, where we take responsibility for all costs such as salary, NI, Pension, bonus, phone, car etc. All the institution has to provide is a place to work and the tools required for the trials. All aspects of clinical trial work are compliant with the current regulatory requirements. Our customers return to us continually because of the attractive nature of our service and the quality to which it is delivered.
