Healthcare at Home takes great pride from developing homecare services in support of Rheumatoid Arthritis patients. The introduction of new and highly effective anti-TNF drugs to combat this debilitating disease has transformed many people’s lives. Healthcare at Home together with Wyeth now provides NHS patients receiving etanercept (Enbrel®) with the option of a full homecare service. As Enbrel has to be reconstituted before injection, Healthcare at Home nurses train patients (or carers) in the correct techniques of reconstitution and administration in the home setting. Nurses then continue to provide on-going support and advice through a help line. Enbrel is a cold-chain and expensive, hospital prescribed product and therefore requires careful pharmacy management and cold-chain distribution.

Healthcare at Home provides both a wholesale (to hospitals) and Enbrel home delivery service on behalf of Wyeth. Patient and Rheumatology Unit satisfaction levels have been consistently high with the service and now over 75% of patients receiving Enbrel are enrolled on the Healthcare at Home Enbrel Homecare service.
